Album Notes & Community Reviews

The self-taught Durban pianist's debut album, recorded with a band uniting musicians from North America, Britain and southern Africa, was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize. Mseleku had been exiled from apartheid South Africa since 1980 and had made a triumphant debut at Ronnie Scott's, and Alice Coltrane had given him the saxophone mouthpiece John Coltrane used on 'A Love Supreme'.
