Album Notes & Community Reviews

Issued by Folkways Records posthumously, this acoustic collection focuses heavily on traditional standards, spirituals, and folk narratives. Stripped of his usual Chicago club backing bands, Broonzy's robust voice and intricate fingerpicking highlight his role as a crucial bridge between rural country blues and the urban folk revival.
