Dropping the 'Smog' moniker he had utilized for nearly two decades, the lo-fi pioneer released his formal solo debut under his own name. Featuring vibrant string and horn arrangements by Joanna Newsom collaborator Ryan Francesconi, the record presents a surprisingly warm, gospel-tinged iteration of his deadpan Americana.
