Album Notes & Community Reviews

Culled from a deeply emotional 1955 studio session but released toward the very end of her life, this poignant collection places the legendary vocalist in a remarkably intimate, small-group setting. 'Stay With Me' highlights the tragic, weathered beauty of her declining voice, framed perfectly by the incredibly sensitive, blues-drenched obligatos of trumpeter Charlie Shavers. The unhurried, desperately sad interpretations stand as a profound testament to her unparalleled, heart-wrenching emotional intelligence.
