Released almost a decade after his previous studio effort, 'Kings & Queens of the Underground' functions as a highly reflective and nostalgic companion piece to Billy Idol's autobiography. Collaborating closely with producer Trevor Horn and longtime guitarist Steve Stevens, the album revisits his signature 1980s pop-rock and new wave aesthetics while delivering surprisingly poignant lyrics concerning mortality and his rock-and-roll past. It is a seasoned, mature return from the punk rock icon.
