Album Notes & Community Reviews

Deliberately fleeing from the massive, sunny pop-rock success of their ubiquitous hit 'No Rain', the band decamped to New Orleans to record a significantly darker, wildly eclectic sophomore effort. Shannon Hoon's deeply personal lyricism intensely grapples with severe drug addiction and impending fatherhood over highly complex, remarkably varied alternative rock arrangements. Tragically, Hoon died of an overdose mere weeks into the album's promotional tour, cementing the record's profoundly sorrowful legacy.
