Album Notes & Community Reviews

Dev Hynes constructs an incredibly lush, warmly produced exploration of Black depression, queer identity, and the ongoing search for hope. Featuring spoken-word interludes from transgender activist Janet Mock, the album leans heavily into gorgeous, acoustic-driven R&B, fretless bass, and hazy synthesizer pop. The highly collaborative project serves as a deeply comforting, healing balm regarding the anxieties of marginalized existence.
