Album Notes & Community Reviews

Continuing her highly successful run for producer Norman Granz, the pianist and vocalist delivers another exquisitely delicate collection of cabaret-tinged jazz. 'My Gentleman Friend' relies heavily on her distinctively breathy, girlish vocal timbre and immensely sophisticated, understated piano accompaniment. Featuring contributions from bassist Ray Brown and drummer Ed Thigpen, the intimate sessions perfectly capture the sophisticated elegance of mid-century cosmopolitan nightlife.
