Album Notes & Community Reviews
Spearheading the intellectual Hamburger Schule movement, this monumental debut radically redefined the possibilities of German-language rock music. 'Ich-Maschine' couples tense, angular post-punk instrumentation with Jochen Distelmeyer's dense, highly discursive lyrical poetry. The record explores themes of urban alienation and political consciousness, casting a massive shadow over the European alternative scene for decades.
