Album Notes & Community Reviews

Gathering an all-star cast that includes Stan Getz, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, and Elvin Jones, the valve trombonist leads a remarkably relaxed and highly communicative session. The album seamlessly blends the cool restraint of West Coast jazz with the harmonic depth of mid-sixties post-bop. The resulting interplay is sophisticated, lyrical, and effortlessly swinging, highlighting Brookmeyer's immense talent as both an arranger and soloist.
