When Elephants Dream of Music

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Leading an incredibly expansive, star-studded avant-garde big band, the highly inventive drummer and composer delivered one of the most wildly ambitious jazz recordings of the era. 'When Elephants Dream of Music' brilliantly weaves complex, deeply funky polyrhythms with soaring vocal choirs, spoken word poetry, and dense, highly unpredictable brass arrangements. The joyous, thoroughly eccentric album serves as a massive, critically acclaimed culmination of the post-fusion downtown jazz scene.
