Album Notes & Community Reviews
Vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson steers away from the hard bop of his 1960s output to deliver a lush, sun-drenched jazz-funk masterpiece on 'Montara'. Heavily infused with Latin and Afro-Cuban rhythms, the album's incredibly mellow, groove-oriented atmosphere later made it a foundational text for hip-hop sampling and the acid jazz movement.
