Album Notes & Community Reviews
Teaming extensively with tenor saxophonist Harold Land, the masterful vibraphonist delivered an impeccably groovy, deeply hypnotic set of early jazz-fusion. The record heavily incorporates funk backbeats and prominent electric bass, steering away from abstract free jazz toward a rhythmic, deeply soulful accessibility. It perfectly captures the distinctly sun-drenched, cross-cultural energy of the West Coast jazz scene in the early 70s.
