Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded largely at Muscle Shoals, the soul legend's deeply impassioned fifth solo album balances original material with heavily reinterpreted pop covers, most notably his fiery reimagining of 'Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out'. The arrangements maintain a gritty, distinctly southern grit while incorporating subtle string orchestrations and complex, deeply funky rhythm tracks. The record is a testament to Womack's unparalleled ability to fuse traditional R&B with raw, deeply personal storytelling.
