Album Notes & Community Reviews
Recorded partially at Muscle Shoals, the veteran songwriter delivered his critical and commercial breakthrough, firmly establishing his signature brand of gritty, guitar-driven R&B. The album is anchored by timeless, emotionally raw hits like 'Woman's Gotta Have It' and the deeply poignant 'Harry Hippie', which addressed his brother's tragic passing. It represents a flawless synthesis of Southern soul grit and smooth, cinematic production.
