Album Notes & Community Reviews

Moving away from the stark, sparse isolation of his earlier masterpieces, Will Oldham embraces a full, surprisingly warm studio-band arrangement for this release. The record features prominent fiddle, brass sections, and rich vocal harmonies, creating a surprisingly upbeat, almost joyful backdrop for his typically existential, poetic musings on love and mortality. The album stands out as one of the most accessible, conventionally beautiful entries in his massive catalog.
