Album Notes & Community Reviews

Showcasing the tragically short-lived trumpet prodigy, this exceptional session benefits immensely from the muscular, highly polyrhythmic support of legendary drummer Max Roach. 'Booker Little 4 and Max Roach' highlights the leader's distinctively melancholic tone and incredibly advanced, slightly dissonant harmonic conception. The profound maturity of the writing and flawless execution cemented his status as one of the most promising, progressive voices in the post-bop era.
