Album Notes & Community Reviews

A crowning achievement in Dutch popular music, this masterful album seamlessly blends sophisticated baroque pop arrangements with the intimate, literate storytelling of the Kleinkunst tradition. Returning to collaborate with lyricist Lennaert Nijgh, the record features the iconic hit 'Jimmy', navigating themes of paternal anxiety and profound nostalgia with characteristic wit. It solidified De Groot's reputation as the preeminent intellectual voice of 1970s Dutch folk-pop.
