Album Notes & Community Reviews
Recorded as an entirely unaccompanied solo piano performance, Brad Mehldau conceptually structured 'Elegiac Cycle' heavily around themes of loss and mourning. The profoundly intimate, deeply melancholic album seamlessly bridges highly complex jazz improvisation with the rigorous structural discipline of modern classical composition.
