Sunwise

Sunwise cover art

On 'Sunwise', Brighde Chaimbeul expands the sonic possibilities of the Scottish smallpipes through a conceptual song cycle centered on the Gaelic folklore of winter. The album is a largely solo effort that balances drone-based minimalism and experimental textures with traditional tunes, using the instrument's inherent drone to create a sparse, atmospheric, and powerful sound. Featuring sparse, occasional vocals and a subtle guest appearance from saxophonist Colin Stetson, the record immerses the listener in a soundscape that is simultaneously ancient and forward-looking, built upon a foundation of both original compositions and traditional melodies.
