Album Notes & Community Reviews

Collaborating entirely with Seattle-based producer Jake One, the veteran Minneapolis MC delivers one of the most intensely political and deeply personal albums of his career. Written in the direct aftermath of a tumultuous period involving a pilgrimage to Mecca and intense involvement in civil rights activism, the record tackles themes of systemic racism, global conflict, and spiritual resilience. The dusty, soul-sampling boom-bap production perfectly anchors his impassioned, fiercely articulate lyricism.
