Album Notes & Community Reviews

Brother Ali's self-produced debut, 'Rites of Passage' was issued by Rhymesayers Entertainment as a cassette-only release with very small original circulation in the Minneapolis underground. Its boom bap production carries spiritually grounded, socially conscious lyricism, with guest appearances from Mad Son of the Unknown Prophets, Queen Aminah and Desdamona, and it documents the formative stage of a central figure in independent American hip hop.
