Album Notes & Community Reviews

The masterful Hammond B-3 organist pushed the boundaries of his traditional soul-jazz sound on this deeply groovy, atmospheric Blue Note release. Fusing heavily syncopated funk drum breaks with expansive, psychedelic jazz improvisations, the sessions perfectly reflect the era's transition into progressive fusion. The record has since been celebrated and heavily sampled by the hip-hop community for its undeniably tough rhythm sections.
