Album Notes & Community Reviews

A radical and historically fascinating experiment, 'Steel Guitar Jazz' finds legendary Nashville session musician Buddy Emmons applying the pedal steel guitar to complex, swinging hard bop. Backed by a stellar New York jazz rhythm section featuring Bobby Scott and Art Davis, Emmons executes blistering bebop lines on an instrument typically confined to country music and Western swing. It is a virtuosic, wildly successful genre collision.
