This One's for Basie

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Paying explosive, high-velocity tribute to the legendary orchestra, the famously fiery, hyper-competitive drummer leads an all-star ensemble featuring heavily brassy arrangements by Marty Paich. The tracks intentionally replicate the unyielding, blues-steeped momentum of the Basie organization, propelled entirely by the leader's thunderous, virtuosic snare and cymbal work. The joyously swinging, incredibly powerful session stands as an exhilarating celebration of classic big band architecture.
