On their major-label debut, 'Perfect From Now On', Built to Spill deliberately moved away from concise indie-rock, instead crafting a landmark album of sprawling, multi-part songs. Doug Martsch鈥檚 winding guitar passages and philosophical lyrics are layered with cello, Moog synthesizers, and Mellotron, creating a dense, dynamic soundscape captured by producer Phil Ek.
