Album Notes & Community Reviews
Marking the band's first release in six years, 'Untethered Moon' was energized by the introduction of a new rhythm section, bassist Jason Albertini and drummer Steve Gere. The album features a rougher, more direct production style compared to its predecessor, foregrounding Doug Martsch's signature sprawling and intricate guitar solos, which are layered over both concise rock songs and expansive jams. Critics lauded the album as a return to form, highlighting its revived energy and the complex interplay between Martsch's elaborate guitar work and the muscular foundation provided by the new members.
