Key Lime Pie
by Camper Van Beethoven
Marking a noticeably darker and more politically cynical turn for the famously quirky group, 'Key Lime Pie' would be the band's final studio album before their long hiatus. The departure of founding violinist Jonathan Segel shifted the band's sonic focus toward tighter, guitar-driven alternative rock, though traces of their eclectic folk and world-music roots remain. A haunting cover of Status Quo's 'Pictures of Matchstick Men' became an unexpected standout hit from the sessions.
