In the Dream of the Sea Life

The debut album from the Colorado-based indie pop group is an incredibly dense, conceptual exploration of oceanic life and evolution. The production utilizes a massive, Phil Spector-esque wall of sound, burying whispered boy-girl vocal harmonies under overwhelming layers of synthesizer fuzz, acoustic strumming, and nature field recordings. It established their unique, heavily textured approach to shoegaze and psychedelic pop.
