Carcass's first album in 17 years, 'Surgical Steel', was a triumphant return to form for the melodic death metal pioneers. The album perfectly synthesizes the grindcore aggression of their early work with the melodic hooks of 'Heartwork'. It is a clinical, precise, and ferocious record that proved the band had lost none of their edge or relevance.
