Album Notes & Community Reviews

Showcasing the smooth, highly resonant voice that made him a massive star of the post-war era, Carl Smith delivers a classic set of emotionally direct country ballads. 'Sentimental Songs' leans heavily into the nascent honky-tonk sound, featuring weeping pedal steel guitars and remarkably clear vocal articulation. The album exemplifies the commercial peak of Nashville's pre-rock country music establishment.
