Album Notes & Community Reviews

Driven by the immense success of its titular hit, 'Gee Whiz' established Carla Thomas as the premier female voice of early Memphis soul. The record bridges the innocence of 1950s teen pop with the deepening emotional resonance and rhythmic foundations that would soon come to define the Stax studio sound.
