Album Notes & Community Reviews

Making his debut on the ANTI- label, the veteran songwriter delivers a remarkably smooth, deeply soulful collection of psychedelic soft-rock. The production frequently incorporates flute, Rhodes piano, and prominent backing vocals from Angel Olsen, masking McCombs's highly cynical, often politically charged lyricism regarding modern paranoia and societal decay. It was widely celebrated as one of the most accessible, finest entries in his deep catalog.
