Album Notes & Community Reviews

Breaking away from traditional jazz repertoire, the acclaimed vocalist interprets a striking array of blues, folk, and contemporary pop songs, including works by Robert Johnson and Van Morrison. Her smoky, remarkably expressive contralto is framed by spare, atmospheric acoustic instrumentation, radically redefining the modern vocal jazz album.
