Album Notes & Community Reviews
Actively attempting to distance themselves from the rapidly fading UK shoegaze scene, Catherine Wheel fully embraced a significantly heavier, more direct approach on 'Happy Days'. The production intentionally sheds much of their previous ethereal reverb in favor of muscular, hard-rock guitar riffs and deeply aggressive rhythmic drive. While certainly surprising to early fans, the record powerfully demonstrated the band's versatility and highly aggressive songwriting capabilities directly within the alternative rock boom.
