Album Notes & Community Reviews

Captured in late 1962 during a highly productive European tour at the Cafe Montmartre, this ferociously energetic session showcases the pianist alongside saxophonist Jimmy Lyons and drummer Sunny Murray. The trio brutally dismantles conventional rhythm and chordal structure, communicating entirely through dense, violently clustered bursts of pure kinetic energy. It remains a foundational document of the absolute extremes of early free jazz collective improvisation.
