Adorned with iconic H.R. Giger artwork, 'To Mega Therion' is a staggeringly heavy, highly avant-garde expansion of first-wave black metal. Celtic Frost supplements their sluggish, doom-laden thrash riffs with operatic female vocals and French horns, creating an incredibly dark, grandiose atmosphere. It is an energetic, heavily occult-themed milestone that radically pushed the creative boundaries of extreme metal.
