Album Notes & Community Reviews

Serving as a massive commercial comeback, this record seamlessly bridged traditional R&B with the burgeoning electro and hip-hop movements. The platinum-selling title track, originally written by Prince, famously features a kinetic rap intro from Melle Mel and Stevie Wonder's distinctive chromatic harmonica. The highly synthesized production established a blueprint for contemporary R&B throughout the latter half of the decade.
