Album Notes & Community Reviews

Conductor Michael Tilson Thomas leads the Chicago Symphony Orchestra through a definitive exploration of the pioneering American composer's polytonal masterpieces. The recording masterfully captures Ives's radical, colliding orchestral textures, vividly interpreting the dense Americana of the 'Holidays Symphony'. The inclusion of his haunting, spatial work 'The Unanswered Question' rounds out a technically brilliant tribute to early 20th-century modernism.
