Album Notes & Community Reviews

Documenting a volatile 1964 engagement at the Jazz Workshop in San Francisco, 'Right Now' finds the great bassist leading a fiercely interactive quintet. The performances are defined by Mingus's demanding compositional frameworks that dissolve into wild, open-ended avant-garde excursions. It is highly regarded for capturing the volatile, deeply expressive group dynamic that Mingus was capable of conjuring on stage.
