Album Notes & Community Reviews

Reconvening his politically charged Liberation Music Orchestra for the first time since 1990, the legendary jazz bassist structures this release as a direct protest against the Iraq War and the Bush administration. The deeply melancholic album features lush, complex big band arrangements by Carla Bley, interpreting traditional American anthems and folk songs with a bittersweet, highly emotive jazz sensibility.
