Album Notes & Community Reviews

Featuring the highly unusual inclusion of pianist Bill Evans鈥攚hose impressionistic style contrasts brilliantly with the leader's volatile energy鈥攖his sextet session highlights immense structural sophistication. The compositions seamlessly integrate deep, blues-drenched grooves with shifting tempos and tightly woven, polyphonic horn lines. The recording stands as a superb, heavily atmospheric document of the bassist's rapidly maturing compositional genius.
