Town Hall Concert

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Often cited as one of the most disastrously ambitious live events in jazz history, this infamous 1962 concert attempted to record complex, unfinalized big band arrangements in front of a live audience. Hindered by severe time constraints, exhausted musicians, and the leader's volatile onstage breakdowns, the resulting record is a brilliant but frustratingly fragmented glimpse into a sweeping, unrealized orchestral masterpiece.
