Reuniting with Jack Douglas, the producer of their legendary debut album, the Illinois quartet aggressively attempted to recapture their original hard-rocking power pop momentum. 'Standing on the Edge' features notably heavier guitar work from Rick Nielsen and booming, modernized drum sounds, effectively balancing arena rock muscle with their signature Beatles-esque vocal harmonies. Despite suffering from label interference regarding the final mix, the album successfully stabilized their commercial trajectory.
