Album Notes & Community Reviews
Captured during his immensely successful, highly publicized European tour, this deeply lyrical quartet session highlights the famously melancholic trumpeter playing with unexpected buoyancy. Backed by a stellar French rhythm section featuring pianist Ren茅 Urtreger, the tracks beautifully synthesize his signature, airy West Coast phrasing with a more muscular, driving Continental swing. The flawless recording reaffirms his status as a profoundly gifted, deeply emotional instrumentalist.
