Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded during a period of intense creative resurgence, this album captures Chet Baker in an intimate quintet setting. 'Once Upon a Summertime' focuses entirely on instrumental performances, highlighting his fragile, achingly lyrical trumpet tone. The record is a pristine example of the melancholic cool jazz that characterized the later years of his prolific, turbulent career.
