Album Notes & Community Reviews

Marking a significant comeback for the iconic trumpeter and vocalist after years of personal struggles, this lushly orchestrated album was produced by Creed Taylor for CTI Records. Arranger Don Sebesky framed Baker's fragile, melancholic voice and lyrical trumpet lines with rich strings and a stellar electric rhythm section. The release successfully reestablished Baker in the contemporary jazz landscape of the 1970s.
