Album Notes & Community Reviews

Supported by a remarkably empathetic trio setting, 'The Touch of Your Lips' captures the legendary trumpeter in exceptional form during a late-career resurgence. Baker's playing and singing are unhurried and intensely intimate, relying on nuanced phrasing rather than technical exertion to convey profound melancholy and romantic warmth. The session perfectly distills the quiet, devastating beauty of his mature, stripped-down aesthetic.
