Chicago XI
by Chicago
Marking the end of an era, this album is the final release to feature founding guitarist Terry Kath before his tragic accidental death early the following year. Continuing their incredibly lucrative pivot towards highly polished, horn-driven soft rock, the project heavily emphasizes romantic balladry, yielding the massive hit 'Baby, What a Big Surprise'. Kath's sudden passing would subsequently force a complete stylistic restructuring of the iconic ensemble.
