Album Notes & Community Reviews

Featuring a stellar ensemble that includes Wynton Marsalis, Bobby Hutcherson, and Cecil McBee, this session is a towering achievement of 1980s acoustic jazz. Freeman's compositions successfully bridge the aggressive energy of the 1960s avant-garde with the disciplined structuralism of classic hard bop. 'Destiny's Dance' was widely acclaimed for its fiery improvisations and robust ensemble interplay during an era often dominated by smooth fusion.
